Research Repository (Hack Week Project)
Once a quarter we have hack weeks, where anyone can submit ideas to be worked on. During that week people will team up to tackle whatever project they have interest in. The Research Repository was one that I submitted and was worked on. The team consisted of two developers, six designers, and one researcher. We spent the week designing and then building the repository using Hugo (uses markup instead of html). During this project the developers on the team taught the designers how to use Git as well as help write the code. After the first day all the designers were committing code and we were able to get the repository launched. The repository is a place anyone can go to understand why design decisions were made. If our Pattern Library is our "what", the Research Repository is our "why".
